NOMINATION IS NOW OPEN!
Nomination is now open for the AFRICA ACHIEVER AWARDS 2012, which was established in 2003, to honour governments, public sector, private sector, development partners and individuals who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in Africa. The awards are presented annually to showcase excellence and innovation in projects, service delivery, infrastructure investment and generation of economic benefit, which result in enhanced quality of life, public services and facilities in Africa.
DESCRIPTION
Awards are presented annually to governments, public sector, private sector, development partners and individuals for outstanding achievement in recognised areas, city, state, region or country in Africa.
Winners receive an engraved glass sculpture and have the right to the designation of Africa Achiever Award winner in publications, stationeries and future proposal submissions. Award recipients may be published as case studies and will also be advertised through press releases and media coverage.
Awards will be announced and presented on 20th November 2012, at the annual INVEST IN AFRICA SUMMIT & EXPO 2012 organised by Invest In Africa Ltd., Invest Worldwide Inc, Investment Expo Magazine, partners and co-sponsors to be held in Canada.
PRECONDITIONS FOR PROJECTS
Project considered for an award must meet several but not necessarily all seven basic requirements:
4 The project must be based in a specified city, state, region or country in Africa
4 The project must have attracted investment
4 The project is enhancing positive quality of life for the citizens
4 The project is effectively utilising both natural and human resources
4 The project must have commenced, with funding provided
4 The project must demonstrate the transfer of risk
4 The project must demonstrate new innovation and excellence in the sector
ELIGIBILITY
Any governments, public sector, private sector, development partners and individuals may nominate for an award.
AWARDS SELECTION CRITERIA 2012
Nominations will be assessed on the following criteria. It is expected that nominations will demonstrate several but not necessarily all of the following qualities:
4 Leadership
4 Innovation
4 Economic benefit (job creation, enhanced economic value, export potential, etc.)
4 Relevance or significance to the sustainable development of Africa
4 Effective use of financing and/or use of non-traditional sources of revenue
4 Strategic Planning, excellence in projects, services or products
4 Measurable enhancement of quality of lives of citizens
4 Result
AWARDS SELECTION PROCESS 2012
A fully completed nomination form and any description should be submitted electronically in word or PDF format no later than 12:00 Noon (GMT), Thursday 20th September 2012.
INVEST IN AFRICA will appoint an expert selection panel of knowledgeable and objective leaders in Africa to review the nominations against the criteria and recommend the winners. Awards will be presented at the AFRICA ACHIEVER AWARDS GALA DINNER 2012 on 20th November 2012, during INVEST IN AFRICA SUMMIT & EXPO 2012 taking place 19th – 21st November 2012 in Canada.
ONLY FINAL NOMINEES will be notified.
HOW TO ENTER
4 Complete the nomination form. A separate nomination form should be completed for each category submitted for entry. Nominations will be judged on the quality, not the quantity of the submission, as well as the match with the criteria noted. Indicate on the nomination form under which one of the key areas, the nomination is being submitted for entry. THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE.
4 Please provide your nomination form in soft copy. Either in Word Format or PDF.

4 Deadline for submission is 12:00 Noon (GMT), Thursday 20th September 2012.
